Camping le Vert Vallon is a cosy campsite in the sleepy village of Lautenbach-Zell at the foot of the Grand ballon mountain. It's a great base for hiking or cycling in the area.
As it is a real campsite, there are all the usual facilities as well as a washing machine and the possibility to order bread for breakfast. Everything is new and fresh.
The pitches are nice and many have views of the mountain. Now it was almost empty when we were here but it may be a little crowded when it is fully booked. This campsite does not have separate pitches as many French campsites otherwise have.
If you're planning to stay for a couple of days, it might be a good idea to do some shopping before you arrive. Apart from a tiny general store, which has excellent charcuterie and bakery, there is not much else nearby. If you want to eat out, the village's only restaurant is next door to the campsite.
