”Hello to all life lovers, Eva and Henrik here. Hope you have a wonderful motorhome summer! After a couple of quiet days in the mountains, we are now heading for the hustle and bustle of Champagne! 🍾 Or well, it's actually not that bad here, maybe everyone has fled the heat, here is just over 40 degrees.
We talked before the trip about maybe staying in a hotel for a night now and then. A big shower, a wide bed and AC is not so bad. One does not have to exclude the other as well. For those of you with a large motorhome, it may sound a little strange, but with a little rascal like our Bobo, it can be nice to spread out sometimes. We also started to feel that if we don't get a cool night's sleep, we're going to pass out. What do you do when it's too hot? Any tips are gratefully received. We will definitely install a fan when we get home! 🪭
The hotel idea turned out to be a real stroke of luck. We found the champagne house Sacret which has a B&B in the middle of the smaller village of Aÿ. Here we had a tasting together with a couple from Denmark and a couple of guys from Hong Kong. We had a real evening with a lot of champagne and talk well into the small hours. 🥳
In cosy Aÿ, you'll also find Pressoria, a museum entirely dedicated to Champagne. An educational and fun museum, should I add that it is cool? 😅
After a much-needed break, we were ready to go again, first making a quick stop in Hautvillers, Dom Pérignon's home town, before heading to Épernay and Reims. Don't miss the parade street Rue de Champagne in Épernay or the big champagne houses in Reims, such as Taittinger and Veuve Clicquot. In the countryside, just 15 minutes from Reims, we found the small-scale winemaker Hanon-Flury. The family offers a stand and organises tastings of their champagne. To honour his grandfather, the winemaker has created his best champagne with a production of just 50 bottles. One bottle came home with us. We're saving it for the wedding day. 🎊

But now, my friends, we're getting tired of wine anyway, time to do something else. Join us on a new adventure next week, when we will feel the wings of history in Ypres.
Best regards Eva & Henrik”
