"Hello all bon vivants!
Now our journey is coming to an end and we are heading home through the Netherlands.
On a campsite in Belgium, we met a Dutchman who wanted to give us all his top tips. It may not have been the perfect time, but you can all recognise the feeling when you've just sat down outside your campervan, poured yourself a drink and thought ”Ah, life is good!” Then your neighbour comes out with a bunch of maps in hand. Maybe not quite what you feel like at the time, but what can you do, nobody wants to be unpleasant, right?
However, it turned out that this elderly gentleman had lots of exciting tips and we wrote until our thumbs were bleeding to note down all the places he thought we should visit in the Netherlands. For example, have you heard of the cosy little town of Middelburg in Zeeland, the picturesque village of Sneek in Friesland or that Breda has an interesting army museum?
So you should always take the time to listen when you meet people who have something to tell you. We could now alternate cosy and not very touristy cities with Dutch must-sees like Gouda's cheese museum and Delft's blue and white porcelain.
