Torsö Camping

Campsite right in the middle of beautiful Torsö in Lake Vänern.

This cosy campsite is located right in the middle of the island of Torsö in Lake Vänern, just outside Mariestad. The campsite is run by the Torsö Community and Sports Association, which also has a small kiosk on the site. You book your pitch via the association's web. There are all facilities except for grey water dumping. A shower, toilet and a kitchen are inside the community hall and to be honest, this is what brings the rating down. The showers and toilets are really quite worn and are in need of renovation. However, they are well cleaned so they are still reasonably ok.

As mentioned, the campsite is situated right in the middle of the island, but by a small inlet, which means you are close to the water and the boat jetty. You can easily cycle to swimming spots or hiking trails. In either direction you also have restaurants, one right by the bridge abutment when you are crossing over to Torsö and one at the very end of the island. We tried the latter, Laxhall, and it was really good.
