Bergen Motorhome Parking

A chaotic car park well outside the city.

Before our trip to Bergen, we looked for a good place to park the motorhome and found the Bergenshallen motorhome car park. This is about five kilometres from the city centre and is unfortunately far too undersized for our needs, although it does have easy payment, water and emptying. Although we were in Bergen early, it was already full and we had to stand in the chaos of the car park next door. Here it was packed with motorhomes and everyone was packed like herrings, safety distance was not to be mentioned. The only advantage may well be said to be that this place is free.

Good to have the bikes with you as it is a bit to the centre.

Both car parks are right next to the tram stop, which is great if you want to take the tram into town. The downside, however, is that the trams run all night and make a lot of noise as they pass just a few metres from where you sleep. When we cycled into town, we saw that there is a large car park at Minde Allé 39 where there were several motorhomes but at a reasonable distance from each other. This car park is also free and would of course have been a better option.

Once you get over the frustration of parking, the mountains are still quite beautiful.

In popular towns and cities, it is of course difficult to find good pitches for all motorhomes. However, this was something of a low water mark. We have seen much better organised sites that are certainly dull but functional. When you visit a city, it usually doesn't matter if the pitch is a bit boring, the idea is to look around the city rather than hang out in the motorhome.
