Ranuanjärvi Camping Arctic Igloos

Camping with igloos at the Arctic Circle.

Ranuanjärvi Campsite is one of two campsites belonging to Ranua Resort, a wilderness park where you can experience the wildlife of Northern Scandinavia. Ranua is located about an hour southeast of Rovaniemi, meaning in the southern part of Finnish Lapland. It is a beautiful area with a lake view. Pitches can be booked with or without electricity, and upon arrival, you can choose a pitch that you find nice. You can either stay on gravel near the lake with a view, or, if you prefer, under the trees in the lovely birch forest, which means you'll be a little further from the water.

The campsite has all amenities except for greywater disposal and, of course, a sauna. The service building is a bit run-down but still clean and tidy. There is no restaurant, but you can book breakfast at the campsite's café.

As we are near the Arctic Circle, you have the opportunity to see the Northern Lights. The campsite has special cabins, Arctic Igloos, with glass roofs where you can lie in bed and scan for the Northern Lights. In the summer they weren't very popular, but during winter it's surely a fantastic experience.
