Glaskogen Wilderness Campsite

Scenic camping at Glaskogen Nature Reserve.

Would you like to stay with campsite amenities but still have the beautiful surroundings that are usually only offered by wild camping, then a visit to Glaskogen in beautiful Värmland is recommended. Here you will find both the regular campsite and a number of pitches out in the nature reserve where you are completely on your own. You can book both camping and pitches at Glaskogen's website. There is also a map of the entire area so you can choose your spot.

We stayed at the campsite which has around 60 pitches spread across two forested areas overlooking the lake Buvattnet. How much lake view you actually have depends on how dense the forest around you is. The pitches are generously sized and all have their own fireplace. You can buy firewood down at the Info Centre, which is half a kilometre away.

All pitches have electricity and most have Wi-Fi with varying coverage. You'll find toilets and a small outdoor kitchen with washing-up facilities down by the Infocentre. There's also a shop here selling maps, basic groceries and hiking gear. Nearby, there's a service building with showers, toilets and a launderette. Within the campsite itself, there are several very clean outdoor toilets, so don't be put off. There are also water pumps and fresh water taps dotted around the area. At one end of the campsite, there are facilities for emptying grey water and chemical toilets.

We really thought this was a fantastic place, it's incredibly beautiful here even though the facilities are basic. The campsite is located right in the middle of the beautiful nature reserve and the pitches are well-maintained. We also want to take the opportunity to recommend Café Carl This is located just under a kilometre from the Infocenter. Here, everything is served from delicious coffee breaks to luxurious dinners, definitely worth a visit after a day's hike.
