In Sodankylä, an hour and a half from Rovaniemi on the road towards Lake Inari, lies Nilimella Resort Campsite. The location is beautifully situated on the Kitine River and just under a kilometre from a small town centre. Directly across the street towards the rapids, you also have a pub with a magnificent view.
The campsite can be booked and you can choose between grass or gravel pitches, most of which have electricity. It had rained heavily when we were here, so it wasn't possible to use all the grass pitches as there was a risk of getting stuck. However, the staff were very helpful in finding us a good spot with better ground conditions.
All facilities are available, including a washing machine and sauna. Everything is fresh and in order, but perhaps slightly dated.
