This place we booked through the app Nortrip, which is a network of farm shops, farms and similar places where you stay for free. The idea, of course, is to show a little interest in what is produced on site, and that's rarely difficult. It's usually delicacies and local crafts that are displayed. 🙂 This time we ended up at Trasti & Trines a farm a bit outside Alta.
The campsite itself is a simple car park where you can get electricity if needed. As you walk into the courtyard, you are met by a lush oasis with several beautiful old buildings, for instance some old timber houses that have been moved from other places in Norway. These houses are part of the farm's hotel. In one of the houses, there is a sourdough bakery where you can buy bread and other delicacies to take home with you. In another of the houses, you have a shower and toilet, as well as a sauna. The farm is also home to a number of sled dogs, so you can occasionally hear howling reminiscent of ”The Call of the Wild”.
The highlight of Trasti & Trine is, of course, the restaurant. Here we were treated to a fantastic tasting menu made from local ingredients of the highest quality. We will write more about this lovely dinner and the cosy breakfast in a future post on our other site. rendahls.se.
